It was a busy day today as we played host to reporters from NBC, ABC, CBS, the LA Times, AP and Reuters News Service today.
Our soldiers were able to send taped messages home and tell reporters about our part of the war. Unfirtunately we were not able to tell them everything that we do, but we were able to tell our stories.
Here SGT Gordon Pulford is interviewed by Heather Nauert of ABC News.
SSG Maurice Hudson's squad from our Second Platoon sends well wishes home through NBC News.
Staff Sergeant Dale Kreuger is interviewed by Louise Roug from the LA Times.
The ABC news crew striking a pose. They took our photos so I took theirs.
If you want to find the stories or interviews, search for the following:
-MSNBC.com, Producer Bob Denham (Bob was in Afghanistan on September 18, 2001)
-CBS Radio Network, Cami McCormick (Heard on WBBM in the Chicago area)
-ABC, Producer Mike Tuggle, Reporter Heather Nauert (who I recognized from when she was with Fox News)
-AP Photographer Peter DeJung (a war journalist from Amsterdam who has been covering armed conflicts for 16 years, kinda cool)
-LA Times reporter Louisa Rouge (who is originally from Denmark but now resides full-time in Iraq)
-AP Writer Jason Straziuso (who is on his first trip to Iraq)
While the reporters were interviewing our soldiers, I interviewed them. I learned that some reporters rotate in and out every 30 days while other live here full-time. Some news agencies have their own 'fortresses' in Baghdad that they work from, while others share apartments in the Green Zone.
I had a real interesting conversation with Bob Denham from NBC about blogging and soldiers using the internet to talk with their loved ones at home. He took down the address to my blog and said he was going to put a link to my blog on the blog the NBC reporters in Iraq maintain. We'll see if my site starts getting hundreds or thousands of more hits.
I'll link to whatever articles and stories I can find over the next couple days.
Merry Christmas,
Micah
